We had a meeting with Rev. Chua last Sunday and somehow his sharing really strikes me. I don't know whether it's something that God is also trying to tell me but I really have a deep thought about it. Being in the church community sometimes we take each other for granted.
For example, if someone in the group (be it choir group, youth group, men or women) suddenly goes MIA...no one actually bothers to pick up the phone and send a message just to ask "how are you? I haven't seen you for quite a while. Is everything okay?". People don't go MIA for no reason, and usually no one bothers. In the end people will start making assumptions and hurt that person even more.
That's what's happening to him...he requested to be out of the diocese temporarily but how many people actually approach him personally and ask him how is he and what makes him take those decision?? No one. In fact, people end up speculating all sort of stories behind his MIA in the diocese. And during that period, he experience the lowest peak in his life and how much he needed someone to share his emotional feelings.
We should start up a care group within a small community. A care group within the Choir, the Youth, Women and Men....sometimes we don't need to give any advice, but at least to just listen. Having someone to share and letting go is good enough, and that makes me reflect on the message my daddy gave during the priest appreciation night. Yes, even the priest needs someone to share what's deep down inside them.
Now...does anyone care?
